Senior PHP Developer

We are looking for a highly qualified and talented Senior PHP Developer that would like to join an outsourcing company:

- to work on a project for the US leading, global operator of electronic marketplaces.

The role gives the opportunity to be at the forefront of cutting-edge electronic trading technology where trading volumes often exceed 1 trillion dollars a day.

About the project:

The project is to migrate old code written in PHP/Perl, Apache, MySQL on Solaris SPARC 5.8 to the latest versions of PHP/Perl, Apache and MySQL on Linux.

The PHP code in particular, relies on a compiled PHP extension written in C for Solaris SPARC. The C code will need to be updated and the PHP extension recompiled.

Job Responsibilities:

• Modernize a PHP/Perl/C-based website
• Migrate PHP, Perl and C codebase to current runtime versions on Unix
• Configure Apache web servers
• Partner with stakeholders to conduct tests and apply bug fixes
• Produce and maintain architecture and technical documentation

What you’ll bring:

• Strong PHP experience, ideally several years across multiple major versions
• Familiarity with developing/customizing PHP C extensions
• Comfortable with Linux/Unix command line development tools
• Some familiarity with Perl and CGI scripts

We’d love if you had:

• Experience with Cross-platform (SPARC, Linux x86) C
• Experience with SQL
• Some familiarity configuring Apache and MySQL
• Self-starter, independent, unafraid of working with a legacy codebase
• Experience with AWS cloud services, i.e. EC2
• Experience with Git development workflows and CI/CD
